Chef Nick Deutmeyer

In fall of 2020, Chef Nick Deutmeyer took the reins as Executive Chef. We welcomed Chef Nick from our sister restaurant Post 390. Nick joined Post 390 at the restaurant's inception in 2009. In 2016, he was named Executive Chef. 

Chef Nick has been an important member of the Himmel Hospitality team for over a decade. After attending culinary school at New England Culinary lnstitute in Vermont, he moved south and took a job at Harvest, eventually working his way up to lead line cook, during which time he cooked with our team at the James Beard House in New York City.

His love of cooking started in the early 2000s. He spent time in Italy and Austria researching and enjoying local cuisine, but his passion for fresh, local food started long before that.

Born and raised on a dairy farm in Dyersville, Iowa, Chef Nick was taught the importance of high-quality ingredients and the dedication they require. He brings his knowledge, respect, and passion to each and every dish. At Post 390, he was instrumental in enhancing the "Farm-to-Post" program by researching, visiting, and supporting  local farmers, fishermen, and foragers. He supports their life's work because it's his too.  

When he is not at Harvest, you can find him cooking at home with friends or researching new dishes to try.
